Television, film and suspension of disbelief
Does anyone else have a problem with suspension of disbelief when watching or discussing plots in different movies or TV shows?
I noticed that other people can be so engrossed in fictional stories that they can discuss the arcs of different fictional characters and they can discuss what's happening in a storyline as if it's really happening. I can also do this if I really force myself, but when I go to discuss something like why a character in a tv show does something, I tend to think something like because the writers wrote the character that way, or the writers wanted the viewers to feel or react a certain way as opposed to some reason in the story that caused a character to do something or make a certain decision. I realize how dense it is and I do force the suspension of disbelief. It just doesn't come naturally.
Is it just a lack of imagination? A theory of mind problem?

I HAVE experienced "suspension of disbelief"----but, I wouldn't call it "a problem"----I quite like being able to get lost in a story / character(s)!

I'm thinking, maybe, you have just never found a story / character with which you've totally fallen in-love, and that seems sad to me. It / they can provide a FABULOUS escape!!
