Recently I listened to the entry about concrete an 'Elements' programme on radio 4... and just because it's used in building... they had an entire interview with drills in the background, for about five minutes, but still...

Oh, God----I HATE when they do that!! PBS is famous for documentaries with horrible music----well, okay, maybe it's not "horrible", as it is confluent with the topic (which I appreciate)----but, it's terribly "intrusive". Usually, it's not during the speaking; but, it's SOOOO loud during a transition, to another scene, that I have to mute it----and then, of course, I miss some of the speaking. I could, of course, turn-down the volume; but, it's just easier to mute it.
