If you're a Star Wars fan, chances are, you've already heard this in rumors many, many times before. But this time, I actually think the rumors might be true. Why not? Lucas is making tons of money with the Clone Wars and will most likely make much more with the 3d rereleases of the saga in 2012, the live action series, and the bluray releases of the saga next year. The new trilogy is purportedly going to be released far from now in 2015 or 2016 after the 3d rereleases run their course.
Is anyone in favor of a new trilogy?

Any word on what this rumored new trilogy will be about?

I read about the full story online. Assuming the sources are good, the final trilogy takes place after the original series. It covers Luke's kids, Chewy's death, a galactic invasion and the final destruction of the dark side. Frankly, it makes the least amount of sense, and has little to do with the themes of the existing installations.

It's probably talking about the Star Wars sequel trilogy, episodes VII, VIII, IX, which was rumoured about ever since the original trilogy was made. It was always rumoured to be about the children of Luke Skywalker + Mara Jade and Han Solo + Princess Leia, when they become become Jedi knights taking place 20 years after the events in the original trilogy. However, George Lucas himself as well as Lucasfilm has always denied the existance of the sequel trilogy, unlike the prequel trilogy and have said there was always just going to be six films.

I don't think George Lucas want to do something else than make money without doing anything. Even if he would want make a movie, it would not be wise to take the same subject again. Many people think that Star Wars is now nothing more than a pretext to make money. It is not anymore the great movie that it was.

Yes. They really should know when to leave a franchise alone before they ruin it for us.

They will have nothing to do with Luke or his friends or family. They might even take place 1,000 years later.

And that might be because it exists and they don't want people to know yet. The website that recieved the info was the first to find out and report about the live action series, the clone wars series, and EP3's pg13 rating.

There's a chance that someone else will be writing and directing. George is almost in his 70's, he may not be able to survive through the making of another trilogy, one that would end anywhere between 2022 and 2024.

Here's a better link. This is the story as it was on TheForce.net. The link to the original source is within the article.

It would be cool if Lucas made more movies but maybe he should leave Star Wars where it is. The Clone Wars animated series is great though.

This is BS is some of what you said is true (the dark side falls forever). If you learn anything about the dark side from Star Wars it's that if you kill it it's going to come back without warning as strong as ever.

Hell, if they crank sequels out, I'll pay for the movie tickets. I did for the prequels, which were definitely inferior products. But hey, it's Star Wars.
I do agree with someone else taking Lucas' mantle, since he's probably going to kick the bucket before three more movies can be finished.

More likelly though he would produce it.
