I'm a huge movie buff and when I begin to talk about movies with my friends I find that most of my favorite movies are ones that not many people have seen or even heard of, does anyone else have one or more movies that no one that you know has seen?

One that I immediately think of is Fritz Lang's Metropolis, I highly recommend it but make sure you watch the most recent reconstruction entitled ''The Complete Metropolis.''

I'm not sure if Metropolis could be considered obscure, it's a classic!

As for my favorite obscure movie, that would be Werner Herzog's The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser (which is actually my favorite movie in general).

CreamOfConnor-

I understand that Metropolis is an undeniable classic amongst film fans but I consider it obscure in the way that your average movie viewer has never seen or heard of it, the same way that a film like Eraserhead is a classic yet still obscure. I guess it depends on what ones definition of obscure is.

EdWood-

Understood. I guess because I don't really talk to others about movies often (most of the kids at my school don't know who Sergei Eisenstein is), I only really think from the isolated perspective of a film fan. I think of Metropolis in the same way other people might view a classic Schwarzenegger movie (not to say that you can't enjoy both).

Metropolis is a great choice though :D

I'm a big fan of old films and also of Fritz Lang, M in particular. I love old silents, especially Buster Keaton. I'm quite fond of David Lynch for the same aesthetic reasons as Lang. I've also been getting into the stop motion work of Jiří Barta and I've always enjoyed Jean-Pierre Jeunet's films -- except for Alien Resurrection, despite being a huge fan of that series. The pairing of Joss Whedon's writing and the direction of Jeunet never seemed to make much sense, as if it were only to appease Sigourney Weaver's desire to break out of the Cameron-esque sci-fi aesthetic.

All that said, I'll always have a soft spot for Laurel & Hardy movies, The Flying Deuces in particular.

"House of Wax" (the 1953 version), with Vincent Price. This is a 3-D movie----REAL 3-D, not that pathetic stuff they're passing-off as 3-D, nowadays!!

One that I think that anyone with a dark sense of humor should watch is ''It's Such a Beautiful Day'' it's a dark comedy and a real tearjerker animated with stick figures completely animated by hand.

The Hitcher. That's the original, not the terrible remake. Rutger Hauer is stupendous as the hitchhiking serial killer, John Ryder, and C. Thomas Howell is irreplaceable as Ryder's victim, who he tries to frame for his crimes.

Susperia had been directed and written by Italian horror maestro, Dario Argento. He's made a whole lot of horror flicks filled with gore; some horror classics, others schlock.

Absolute riot of a movie. When my wife and I first saw it, she was laughing so hard I thought she'd pee her panties!
