Within The Story, is Mad Max a Real Human?

Of course I understand he's not one in real life, heh.

I saw Mad Max Fury Road recently and couldn't help but notice a startling discrepancy between the main character Max and the female co-lead by the name of Imperator Furiosa. Even though Max appeared in several situations he should have been harmed and in need of medical attention on screen, he appears to just magically heal and requires no intervention no matter how many times he faces dire injury. Imperator Furiosa, on the contrary, was ready for a hospital stay by the end of the film. Of course, in the Post Apocalyptic World, there are no hospitals. If you want to know more, see the movie.

Anyway, anyone else notice this? What is the reason? Could it be Max is a supernatural-superhero or something like that? Is that the implication here?

I have not seen the new Mad Max movie yet. Hopefully today after seeing Far from the Maddening Crowd.

I have seen the other Mad Max films. I don't know if this film follows the same convention, but Road Warrior and Thunderdome were both stories told by one of the characters in the film, a person whose life Max had an impact. I think Thunderdome ends with the telling of the tale of the man called Max. So Max has always been a character of mythic proportions. So perhaps like many people from our history, Max was "real," but in the retelling of their story has taken on mythic bigger than life qualities.

Of course the thing with Road Warrior and Thunderdome is he does get hurt, severely injured. He is nursed back to health by the people he ultimately saves. What I like about this notion of the exaggeration of the retold myth is the original films were so long ago, that this film is carrying on the myth of Max and those films.

However, like I said I have not seen the new film yet, so this is all just my own imagination and speculation.

I think in Mad Max 2 it is a story told from a child's memories, so that would distort reality even more.

Naa... Max is human, it's just that Main Force Patrol Officers are REALLY durable, and Max is the last one so....

Ok. Just got back from seeing Mad Max, and I really enjoyed it even though I have issues with the events not depicted, that can only be explained by magic, or if the film makers actually thought through the story as I imagined it (the retelling of the tale, taking on mythic qualities). In my heart, I don't think that was the case. Still, that is how I'll justify some of the holes in the story. I think it would have just slowed the movie down if they had not skipped certain events.

I think had Mel Gibson played Max, it would have been interesting, because I can imagine an older Max having some life trauma that would have given him a little PTSD. However, I am not going to get negative about the film just because I thought it should have had things/people in it that it didn't. Ironic though, considering I'm willing to make up a anthropological explanation for the magical bits.

He's human though (with magic blood).

Please don't let my tongue in cheek rant (?) discourage anyone from seeing the film (as if I had that power over people). It is nearly non-stop action and it is enjoyable. Not nearly as many bodies bouncing under tires though.
