Has anyone seen the movie Nell?


I just read about feral children last night and it made me think about Nell. Do you think she was one too because she was isolated in the forest for many years after her mother died. So she was alone so she was never around other people and she didn't have a way of going to town because she didn't have a car. She acted like an animal around people and she had autistic like behavior. Sensitivity to bright flashing lights and to loud noise and she couldn't talk. She didn't like being touched either.

I remember that movie, gosh it has been years since I've seen it.

I've seen "Nell", but it's been such a long time since I've seen it that I only remember a few small clips of it.

Nell bombed at the movie theatres for Jody Foster when it first came out. There have been studies on feral children, largely
abandoned and raised by wolves. But, the story line of Nell is too far fetched...and unbelieveable.

Yeah I used to wonder when I was a teen how did she survive living on her own as a small child? How would a small child know how to get food, how to cook, how to take care of themselves, etc.

I know they learn as they get older because their parents raise them or their guardians but she was alone so how would a small child learn on their own how to do things. And they don't even have the common sense to know about hazards in their house so they could get hurt like what if they decide to climb on the kitchen cupboard not even realizing it won't support their weight so the doors could break and down they go.

Yes...feral children are interesting...My understanding was that the thing in Nell was that she was a twin and the language she spoke was supposedly her twin language...they showed the skeleton of her twin....

Anywhoo....um.....yeah..pretty far fetched...no wolves to raise her or anything...

I have read lots of accounts of feral children...or children kept in isolation.....


(racking brain to remember name of Herzog film based on true story of mysterious youth who appears in german village...completly unsocialised..unable to talk...etc....

I remember that movie. Seriously enjoyed it.

There is a line where one of the doctors says that she has AS and every time I hear that, I think. "Oh yeah. Well lock her up and throw away the key, then!!" (See? We can do sarcasm)

I haven't seen that film in years, but it's one of my favourites. I need to get it on DVD...

I saw it once, but it was long enough ago and i was young enough that all i really remember from it was "OMG They showed her boobs!" I'm going to have to watch it again, i remember it being good (and not because of the boobs)

I only just heard of this film after watching one of Doug Walker's videos, and needless to the say, the premise of it intrigues me. I'd like to watch it for myself sometime.

I love Nell. I have it on DVD and watch it from time to time.

The real Kaspar Hauser was almost certainly a fraud and a con man (the people caring for him in fact came to that conclusion), and very likely the wound from which he died from was probably self inflicted, just having accidentally stabbed himself too deep while trying to add credibility to his psycho drama of a story.
