The last several episodes just overwhelmed me with their depth, complexity and beauty.

I was apprehensive after the first few episodes, but this has proven to be some of the most brilliantly constructed television that I have ever seen in my entire life.

Let's try to keep spoilers to an absolute minimum. All I have to say is that I am truly amazed at what this show has turned out to be. It is the complexities of life broken down and explained in crystal clear terms that anybody can understand.

It took me a couple of tries to get into the series because it does take its time in establishing its premise and tone, building its universe and developing its characters, but WOW, did my patience pay off. 'Steven Universe' astounds me in how emotionally complex the writers try to make the characters. For what's intended to be an action-fantasy show (for kids, at that), focusing so frequently on the characters' flaws and feelings is really quite unprecedented, and even more so that they do it so successfully. In ten years' time, I guarantee none of us will be seeing lists of the greatest animated series of all time without 'SU' somewhere in the top 20.
