Timothy Hutton admitted that he had never before played an evil, sadistic character like Thad Beaumont's alter ego, George Stark, in The Dark Half.

I should add, John Cusak in The Frozen Ground, where he plays a real life, sick, evil serial killer who had kidnapped, and raped prostitutes, then hunted and murdered them out in the wilds of Alaska. Very different role for the actor getting good guy parts.

Amy Adams in American Hustle took many people, including me, by surprise. That type of role was entirely different for her because she usually gets "good girl" parts.

I had mentioned that. It really was a big departure from his usual good guy rolls.
