I was curious if this had anything to do with being on the spectrum or not.

Some, like myself can see Plasma screens flicker / flash making them almost unwatchable.

slightly; if i look straight at a plasma, the flicker is comparable to that of a CRT.

however, if the screen is in my periferal vision, the flicker becomes almost unbearable. This makes it that i have to look at the screen whenever it is on, even if i don't want to.

There is a reason why my PC only uses LCD for its primary and secondary screens: those have a lot less flicker.

Plasma, CRT screens ...and most inexpensive LED string lights (Xmas, party lights, etc). They all make me slightly nauseous or dizzy somehow. It's similar to the sensation I get when too many people are talking (I have an auditory processing delay/disorder that is very similar to dyslexia for spoken words).

*I so missed green screens until LCDs replaced CRTs. I recently booted one up that had been in storage and even compared to nice modern LCDs (which still have the LED flicker in the backlight), that soft, slow green glow was so....soothing.
