Undoubtedly one of the BEST, if not THE BEST mini-series of all time is Band of Brothers.

A description, per amazon.com:

Quote:
Based on the bestseller by Stephen E. Ambrose, the epic 10-part miniseries Band of Brothers tells the story of Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army. Drawn from interviews with survivors of Easy Company, as well as soldiers' journals and letters, Band of Brothers chronicles the experiences of these men who knew extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear. They were an elete rifle company parachuting into France early on D-Day morning, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and capturing Hitler's Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgaden. They were also a unit that suffered 150 percent casualties, and whose lives became legend.

It may be 10 years old, the miniseries, but its story is timeless and the stuff of legend..... very well-produced and must see for anyone.

I agree; I kept watching it over and over when it was being shown in repeats on the History Channel. I also rented the blu-ray discs from Netflix to watch the unedited versions. It's companion 2010 mini-series "The Pacific" is also very good, but not quite as good as Band of Brothers. I also rented The Pacific on blu-ray disc and watched every episode.

Only seen it once but I thought it was good. I remember them arriving at the concentration camps was horrible.

Has anyone else watched this epic miniseries?

I have the DVD set. I saw it originally as an HBO mini-series back in 2001 and I have not seen anything since that can rival it with the exception of The Pacific. I still give my vote to Band of Brothers, though.

How about the other one? The Pacific? That one had a rousing opening. 8)

What I liked about " Band of Brothers" was it stayed true to the book which was true to life.
A great story about the greatness that can be found in people when they are put into these kinds of circumstances.

It's also a good miniseries, taking place in the Pacific War against the Japanese Empire.

Loved that series. Really gotta go back and watch it again but I've been putting it off until I finish watching the pacific which I've found it hard to gain momentum on. In any case I really loved the way the actual people on whom the characters are based speak to us documentary style in interviews during the show. Hard to not agree that it is one of the best mini-series ever.

While I found Band of Brothers to be an overall better miniseries than The Pacific, I found Rami Malek's performance as "Snafu" Shelton in The Pacific to be better than any other actor in either series...

I've seen that, The Pacific, and Generation Kill. I'm not sure which is my fav though, I'm pretty sure it is Band of Brothers. As you can tell, my quote is from Eugene "Sledgehammer" Sledge who was featured in The Pacific.
