So while watching the elections I also watched the new Star Wars trailer, I was rather cautious at the new of a new Star Wars trilogy, but now...now I'm hyped!! !

I can't wait for this. I wonder if Rey is actually the daughter of Han Solo and Leia as she's rumoured to be. The dialogue suggests that she's quite significant.

I'm still going to see this, but after what JJ Abrams did to Star Trek, and having been burned by the prequels, I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. I was one of those who grew up seeing the original trilogy in the theaters.

I'm surprised no one's started a thread yet about those racist cretins who are calling for a boycott of The Force Awakens for allegedly promoting "white genocide" by including non-white characters (for those who haven't heard this, no, I swear, I'm not making this up). How soon those idiots have forgotten Lando Calrissian. Well, no one's ever accused racists of being rocket scientists.

I honestly don't understand the argument that they're trying to make. Rey is a white british female for gods sake. Oscar Isaac is also white, although he's "ethnic" white, whatever that's supposed to mean, only in America would people make claims that those with origins from Spain are not "white". Finns character has been confirmed to have begun his story as a pilot in the Imperial Army, so that kind of removes the whole "Nazi super race" element from it. I can loosely see an actual problem they could have with it though: the main villain Kylo Ren is a young white male. That does seem like a stab at the current fear culture of the U.S. that young white males are dangerous and evil. God forbid there ever be a female sith or another alien sith like Darth Maul.

The only intriguing bit [to me] is what the bad dude meant with finishing what Vader started. Vader didn't really start much; he was more of a simple but powerful pawn that ended up backstabbing his master. I guess they want to add to the story, or it's simply a kill/convert Luke and the Jedi deal (I suppose he wouldn't know that Vader changed sides again, or he didn't believe the stories).

Like I said, no one's ever going to accuse these guys of being rocket scientists.
