I recently watched Mrenter's animated atrocity on a show called "Pickle & Peanut," a cartoon made by Disney that rip-offs "Breadwinners," another terrible cartoon. I was just stunned to see just how bad it was.

I have to know if the animated shows currently running that are bad outweigh or outnumber the ones currently running that are good. This has to include shows that are well known as well as more obscure shows.

Animated atrocities have always existed. Nobody remembers them. There are also a few golden gems in animation today, and I assure you, people will remember those. Quality is about the same.

I don't think so, on the contrary, I think it's improving. There's some terrible ones, but also some great ones like Adventure Time and The Amazing World Of Gumball

I think their going downhill too. They keep remaking cartoons instead of just showing the original series which was better & that kids today never seen.

There had always been cartoons that were controversial like Looney Tunes but not as vulgar as other cartoons of today so in a way yes it's gotten worse. For one thing the quality is not good as the cartoons of yesteryear. Another thing is the amount of crass jokes and pop culture references that people of the older generation can understand seen on television. A long time ago people working in the entertainment industry were forbidden to air shows that contain inappropriate content. Now it's gone too far in the name of free speech or something. The cartoons of today are not as funny as the older ones.

perhaps all these modern cartoons is what is fueling this annoying "OMGSORANDOMZ" generation with all the flashy, sudden things happening.

i vividly remember my childhood, and nobody around me was ever like this generation. we were heavy cartoon watchers too.

I don't know. Most of them today just seems like most of the characters in today's cartoons have air bubbles in the brain.

I guess you don't know about the cartoons seen by your elders; a lot of them been in fact anime. In the 80s and 90s a lot of kid anime were shown on Quebec television while US television barely showed any. Some of them were of very high quality, better that any western cartoon back then.

I guess that's why anime were not show in US television back then; there were not necessary funny though, a children animation serie can be good without having to be funny.

We had this:

However THESE days I have to agree. The only good cartoons I've noticed that are for kids seem to be on PBS. The Disney kids stuff is complete and utter crap.

Yeah, back in the '60s we had "Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent" which was horrible, and we had " The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show"; which was, and still is, outstanding.

Kids ones sure are but satire, sci-fi & the usual Japanese anime are going the oppoaite direction - there's a lot of room for plot devices and conceptual designs when the CGI comprises everything.

I like Family Guy too except for episodes like Seahorse Seashell Party, Screams of Silence, and the majority of Season 12.

This recently came from a YouTuber named EmporerLemon, who's famous for many of his YTPs.

It's a mixed bag, really. But there are some good cartoons. Here's my personal list of recommendations:
->Gravity Falls
->Wander Over Yonder
->Adventure Time
->The Amazing World of Gumball
->Steven Universe
->Clarence
->Harvey Beaks
