Has anyone seen the new Macbeth movie? If so, how was it? I didn't even know about this until I accidentally stumbled upon it while watching trailers for other movies on youtube. It looks absolutely amazing - I'm thrilled to see it actually done in a period setting. Most of the interpretations these days try to set it in some oddball modernized world, and it really ruins it for me!

I'd go see it right this second, but apparently there are almost no theaters in the US showing it, despite the fact that it was only just released.

Here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q3EnDtbg8w

I'm waiting for the Blu-ray like everything else. (I haven't been to a theatre since 2012.) I actually liked the modernized 2006 version with Sam Worthington, but these days modernizing Shakespeare has become so routine that going back to the original setting seems radical. I doubt that it'll replace the Kurosawa and Polanski versions, which are tied for the #1 spot in my mind, but the trailers still look terrific and I'll pick up the Blu-ray on Day 1.

I haven't seen it yet, but I certainly want to when it goes to DVD.

I've been patiently waiting for it's DVD release since October when I first learned of it. Sucks it had a limited release in the U.S. so no chance to have seen it in theaters.

It's also got Asperger actor Paddy Considine as Banquo (wooh!). You can kinda see him around 1:21. Also as MacBeth's sidekick here in the Witches scene:

And at the banquet scene, as Banquo's ghost if you can make him out under the grime:
