The 3d simpsons episode highlighted the fact that - no-one would ever admit to have seen the movie Tron - even chief wiggum accidentally says yes he had seen it and reverts to saying no out of embarrasment.

-Have any of you seen it? -or is it too embarrassing?

What's embarrassing about Tron? Its an 80's classic! It pioneered computer graphics use in movies.

Of course, I saw it when I was a kid (when the movie came out) and probably didn't have a very critical eye towards movies back then. But I enjoyed it a lot and I still like it even at the age of 32.

Yeah, I saw it in the theatre. Ouch. I even have to soundtrack on LP record!! The 2 disc dvd set is noteworthy for the docos and stuff, very interesting.

What's "TRON" supposed to be about?

I watched it once, but I didn't really like it. I have no idea why though so I'll probably try watching it again.

Tron is NOT embarrassing! It was ahead of its time. I didn't see it what it first came out, but I read the book, and I played the video games (I have seen the movie since then, and I would see it again in a heartbeat). It's a cool movie not just because of the pioneering efforts in 3-D animation, but because of the underlying subplot of religion (the MCP's desire to stamp out the programs' faith in their Users; the User Flynn as a Christ figure who saves the world by sacrificing himself).

TRON was (I think) the first movie to explore the idea of cyberspace. It tells the story of a game designer ripped off by his boss. He breaks into the firm's computers to get evidence of the theft. The computer turns a prototype teleport machine on him, and he finds himself in a world where programs come to life as real people, looking like the programmers who wrote them. Tron, a renegade program written by the hero's friend, helps him on his quest.

The film is full of gorgeous visuals inspired by 80's computer graphics, all pastel and neon. The programs have flickering monochrome faces and costumes recalling the old Flash Gordon serials. Being a Disney movie for kids, the plot isn't up to much, but it's regarded nowadays as a milestone in science fiction.

I saw it on my PSP two moths ago, a friend of my sister has it on UMD, and he lend us the movie.

Although nowadays that graphics and special effects are primitive, I enjoy the movie and it's one of my favorites

tron's a great movie......if you're talking about the 3rd episode of the first season..that's back in 1990...totally different time and place than today.

wouldn't be the first time the simpsons was culturally wrong...

I would like to see TRON. My brother has talked about how much he wishes they would do a remake of it.

I'm watching TRON again right now, before my sister returns it to his friend.
