What is your favorite anime opening video?

I think this is mine, it stands out to me because there's no singing! Sort of like how Batman the animated series had no singing or lyrics.

There's just something about a good opening and ending for an anime. My favorite animes rarely have forgettable (to me) music.

Simmian, did you hear that Olga 'Origa' Yakovleva, the Russian singer who provided lead vocals to both the SAC and 2nd Gig themes, passed away about a year ago, aged only 44? I was shocked when I read it. That's way too soon to go, and she left some beautiful music. Apparently Yoko Kanno, who composed the musical score for GitS and many many other anime, was keen on working with her.

Hellsing - The song is different from what you're used to hearing and it's so smooth!

Last Exile - The singer has such a lovely voice and I really enjoy the beat.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 1 - The animation kind of blew me away at the time. The song is really nice too.

Yu Yu Hakusho 1 - I only watched the first season, but I've always enjoyed the lyrics to the first opening.

Full Metal Alchemist 4- The guitars are great and I like how you can feel the emotion in the singer's voice.

gotta say, as much as id like to like anime?? i can never get into it like i want to. i have watched a few though!! i love the original pokemon anime theme and the opening for madoka magica is cool too!

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure openings, if you pay attention to the intros every visual effect is pertinent to the story, even the lyrics, you can basically get the whole story just from that opening. I love this it greatly separates itself from most other anime intros that are basically just running and dancing around with random visuals. Having nice CGI art style is a bonus. I can't wait for Part 4's opening, I recently finished reading Part 4 and I can't wait to look at every little detail of Part 4 that shows its story.



Hunter X Hunter 2011 Openings come close, I found it annoying at first but after a few episodes I just couldn't skip it, YOU JUST TRY AGAIN!. It would be on the same level as JoJo openings if they didn't rehash scenes from openings
1-3 especially when the parts of the story those scenes symbolize are long done. Openings 4 and 5 gave away too much. Opening 4 basically spoiled who the Bomber was if just pause on one scene and compare the man in the image to one in an earlier scene. Opening 5 tried to cover a whole arc that was too big for it (about 65 episodes) and basically gave away characters that don't show up till at least half way through the arc. I felt it spoiled the death of a major character and enemies for the later half. Also once you get way past that part of the story it feels annoying to still see certain characters that are long gone.

I would of liked it much better if they just made opening 5 two parts instead of trying to cover the whole arc in one. I liked that about JoJo's openings 3 and 4 they're both for the same story arc but since it was so big they made it into two parts, the ending of opening 3 is connected to the ending of opening 4 and opening 3 kinda gives a hint to opening 4 with a certain scene. They should of just focused on what happens in the first 20-30 episodes of the Chimera Ant arc and then make that opening connected to the next one for the later half of the arc. Also Opening 5 is when the lyrics for the HxH opening Departure sound like bull, so many horrible things happen in that arc that the opening is too campy for it, I mean millions of people die and some suffer fates much worse than death. That damn arc actually emotionally got to me, made me question the world, and almost made me vegan.

The only other flaw HxH 2011 openings have is the running around cliche.

I really like the GJ-Bu one also, I thought that it was cool that it was sung by such a young group.

Picking a favourite is kind of hard, I have seen so much and favourite can vary, I think that I will pick a couple that I am particularly fond of that I think is great.

One is Himouto Umaru-chan, I could listen to it for a long period of time and I think it is really well made with a couple cool video game styled parts.


The other I was going around looking at various ones I like, and I think I will go with the one for Rage of Bahamut Genesis. Just look at how beautiful that is.

I've read some of it. In general, I'm not a big fan of reading comics/graphic novels.
