This is just a little piece by me, I say my spiel, and I am not, and won't get, involved in any flame wars and polarized conflicts. I'm not a "snobby critic" in case anyoen wnated to throw that at me, I'm a lifelong fan of comics and want to just say something without seething hatred or absolute love as it seems everyone else is. Here I go: It wasn't good. It wasn't Plan Nine From Outer Space, but I'd never say it was great, except for maybe the special effects. More like a disappointment to what I imagined, "okay", meh, blah. I saw Dawn of Justice before most reviews came out, at a morning show, so if anything sounds like a review, it wasn't from one. The opening credits sequence was well shot, though, and I'm still looking for the Art of the Film book for the production and special effects design. But there were a lot of little things that started building up as I was watching. For example, why Gal Godot had like a Spanish accent. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, just, everything about him, I was picturing Clancy Brown's voice in my head at one point to improve it. The direct dialogue rips from The Dark Knight Returns, which got annoying after a while when it felt like they didn't want to create original dialogue (or action, such as Superman being caught in a nuclear blast and then revived to full health). The shortness of the fight, like what 5 minutes, and it was only after Lex Luthor prodded Superman into doing it. The reliance on accidentally drinking urine in the senate subcommittee scene as a major plot twist. The reliance on the fact that both Batman and Superman have mothers with the name Martha in the plot. Superman flying with a kryptonite staff. Batman, pretty much blowing up flamethrowers and trucks with people in them, and probably killing the guys in the car chase scene. No explanation that i could catch on how Superman found out Batman's true identity. No apparent explanation why the Knightmare sequence is set in a desert or anything beyond the Omega symbol. The shoehorning of other members of the Justice League for the sequel (though Cyborg and Flash's security footage were sweet). No idea how Lex knew about Darkseid. Superman's time in-bewtween Man of Steel and this is not really explored, so it lacks some emotional depth when he dies and gets a state funeral. The guys who Bruce tries to save and fails in the beginning, he knows hem but we don't. Ham-fisted references to the comics that sort of offset them. The plot seems more like 7 different plots, that are badly edited going from one scene to another, almost like a stream of conscious; for example, the ending could have been cut down, or simply not juxtaposing another scene after a minute (so that it'd be the state funeral of Superman, then Affleck visiting Eisenberg, and finally the Kent funeral where Batman and Wonder Woman talk and Superman is alive). The gratutious cameos by people form Anderson Cooper to Nancy Grace. The general feeling that they were overworking in trying to be great, and of such wasted potential in the story. That's what I saw and processed, sure there is more but i won't go into it. I'm not going to talk about it anymore, I've got a lot of stuff I need to do and read, but at least it's inspired me to really work on making my own comics, since DC (and probably Marvel if Civil War II is a sign) pretty much, can't be trusted.

I personally thought the movie was great, as it was essentially a reimagining of The Dark Knight Returns, and The Death Of Superman.
Incidentally, Gal Gadot was, I think, speaking in her native Israeli accent, rather than a Spanish accent.

I don't think I really liked it that much either. I mean it certainly wasn't as bad as say the Joel Schmacher Batman movies or the last two Christopher Reeve Superman movies but it was all over the place and not entirely focus. There were some interesting moments I guess like the appearances of the 3 future leaguers and Ben Affleck was a pretty good but not perfect Batman. Would I watch it again? If the DCEU ever improves then maybe. Suicide Squad looks like it could be good as Zack Snyder is not directing that and Wonder Woman might be good. But while Snyder promises that Justice League will be lighter in tone I still can't help but know that film will still suck but how bad could it be compared to BVS. Aquaman has more of a chance of being good, even though on paper a JL movie sounds more interesting.

My family and I plan on seeing Batman VS Superman sometime this week. However, there are some aspects of Batman VS Superman {and the DC Cinematic Universe} we think are ridiculous and can't be taken seriously including, but not limited to:
-Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. In our opinion, he's not a good actor but he's given decent performances in these movies:
-The Social Network
-Zombieland
-Now You See Me {I'm looking forward to watching the sequel Now You See Me: The Second Act}
-Adventureland
-The need for many characters and cameos that according to many, are just distractions in the movie.
-DC taking notes out of Marvel's playbook just to prove their movies can be just as good as Marvel's.
{At one point, WB wanted Josh Brolin as Batman before casting Ben Affleck. Josh Brolin turned the down the role because he didn't like the intended, eventual tone of the movie.}
After watching the trailer for Suicide Squad, I have high hopes that it will be good; same with Wonder Woman and Aquaman. I also have high hopes that WB will give a Justice League: Dark movie the green light.

I thought is was crap and Batman was all wrong. He might look like Batman from DKR and fight like Batman from the Arkham games, but that's all.
Batman doesn't kill people, despite what Snyder says (Bats doesn't kill anybody in DKR--go read it), and he is ALWAYS the smartest guy in the room.
This Batman is a homicidal moron. He's like the Punisher in a halloween costume, but not as smart.
Oh well, maybe the next reboot will get him right.
In the meantime, I'll go watch Daredevil again--he makes a GREAT Batman. ![]()

I thought Lex Luthor was actually a good character. He was not like a past Lex, he kind of fit into the idea of a modern philanthropist, and had the sort of dark menacing side that made it work. He was a bit crazy, but the quirks kind of built him up as a villain and not just hammy like another Lex might. Just like the Joker has the constant of being the chaos to Batman's order, Luthor also represents the other side of Superman, and should change with the times.
The movie had a bit too much in it, and a bit too many gracious and obviously leathal explosions with Batman.
