I need clarification of the genre referred to regarding "Art film", "Supernatural", before I can recommend appropriately...

Not exactly Donny Darko or Ghosty, but try:

I-robot, Groundhog day, 12:01, Star Man (if you can find it), Green Mile, Contact (Jodi Foster), Ghost (Patrick Swazi), Poltergeist (my kids liked this).

Enjoyed Darko, though was a little put-off by the cover (Axe wielding Dark guy) Not at all like the movie... Cliché: Can’t tell a book by its Cover”.

This link takes you to a movie review, sample I picked (Nnight in the Museam) on Blockbuster Video Rental website. It's where you can find other suggestions. Look on the lower right for a column: "You Might Also Enjoy...". Sometimes they come up with a good suggestion. Sometimes not. Best to read the reviews/Synopsis and watch the trailers.

And if you are under 18 ask your Mum first!!

as far as art films go.....

darren aronofsky is always a solid name for good arthouse flicks. i really liked pi.

coffee and cigarettes is also a great one...though that's more comedic vignettes rather than a film with just one plot and set of characters.

really, i should know a lot more but i'm drawing a blank in general right now.

edit: just thought of a great cyberpunk one: eXistenZ

"Me and You and Everyone We Know" is a fantastic art film, as well as one that's very aspie.

"Mirrormask" is a very pretty fantasy art house sorta film. It's British.

"The City of Lost Children" is another good art house fantasy film from the guy who directed "Amelie." It's French. Has some cyberpunk elements.

"Strings" is a puppet film, so it's automatically an art film. It's really great, very powerful--I never thought a puppet movie could make me cry. It's also French.

"Jacob's Ladder" is a great supernatural horror film, but it is quite violent and intense. Think if David Lynch did a movie that was partly set in Vietnam after having nightmares about warped-looking monsters. This was the film that inspired the "Silent Hill" games.

Good luck!

The Triplets of Belville.....I loved that one (animation)..very little dialogue..not completely silent though...very musical..

Sounds like that'd be an anime with a name like "Ghostly Neon Evangelism Cowboys 4: Genesis of the Bebop Shell" or something.
