Bewitched is awesome and all over Youtube too. :D It's one of the most original comedies I've ever seen. Sabrina The Teenaged Witch didn't even come close.

I love that show too, I'm tapping it on my DVR everynight. I have some on DVDs.

i like to watch "bewitched" as i am going to sleep. it is on channel 114 at about 3am.
last time i looked it up on wikipedia, every cast member except for the babies (tabatha (twins interchangeable)) and "maurice" (or maybe "dr bombay") is dead now.

i liked the first darrin much better than the second one. he had facial expressions which added to the humor whereas the second one was much less versatile.

i did not like it when the baby came along as much. i know they had to develop the series but the shows that concentrated on whether tabatha was a witch or not were kind of boring.

i also was sad to find out that gladys kravitz (the first one) died of cancer during the second series and was replaced with another woman who was not as good at portraying a neurotic personality.

also, a few months after the success of bewitched was apparent, another network came up with a copy called "i dream of jeannie" and it was not nearly as good.

jeannie was always portrayed as sexual and the series revolved around the same old plots of dr bellows thinking he is insane because of what he witnessed etc.

with bewitched, samantha was always portrayed as a prim and proper woman (although she was pretty), and there was more emphasis on the home life (like the old 1960's kitchen appliances, and the new cars darrin always drove into the driveway(which were beautiful cars)).

endora was quite a beautiful woman for her age and i wondered what she was like when she was young but there are few photo's of her when she was a young woman.

old aunt clara (the bumbling forgetful one who liked to polish door knobs) also died during the series and was not replaced, but was accounted for by the introduction of the esmerelda woman who had a serious self image problem.

it kind of got boring as it approached the 1970's because they had exhausted all their older ideas and in some shows they dressed up samantha in mini skirts and stuff doing 1970's style stuff.

my favourite character on that show was larry without a doubt. i wish he was in more of the episodes.

Dr. Bombay died few weeks ago. There was Adam, Tabatha's brother. I like the first Darrin too.

There was a very short lived spin off which featured the children as adults. The format, however, was too dated for contemporary tastes at the time.

Used to.

I am adding that to my check-list of experimental re-runs to see how I like it these days. Thanks for the hint.

I loved it, and remember being fascinated by how it was almost exactly the same as "I Dream of Jeannie". A man lives with a woman who can do magic and tries to keep her from doing it, but she does magic anyway (usually to help him) and hijinks ensue. They even did the same trick where the lead actress played her own "naughty" relative by wearing a black wig! I remember being very frustrated by the women not being allowed to be their true selves, and pretending to be "normal" for the privilege of loving a man. :( RIP to Doctor Bombay, my favorite character.

My first cat, Samantha, was named for Elizabeth Montgomery's character on the show. I loved to watch that show when I was younger.

I got the impression that Samantha was just trying out living in the mortal way as a mortal woman. She legitimately seemed to enjoy the housekeeping tasks, perhaps she found them quaint or something like that. I mean, she has lived for centuries, so maybe she just wanted to try things differently. But she was ambivalent, especially when it came to forcing her husband's rules on her family. Still, the conflict added to the comedy of the show.

...Was it ever explicitly stated on Bewitched that Samantha was centuries old ?
I kind of inferred (If that,s the word ! :P ) that , IIRC , but it wasn't quite stated?? As it was for Endora??
