(Sigh) They had to change and condense a perfectly good story, instead of loyally sticking to the original text by making a series of movies, didn't they? :x
F*ck, I'll probably see it, anyway.

Ugh, been looking forward to this for a long time, but kind of looks like they've tried to show a 7 book epic in one movie, using a few quotes, but otherwise missing all of the elements that made it good. The action scenes look more like the Matrix/Wanted then anything like what happened in the books.

However they do have a potentially interesting excuse for taking it a different way, (plus they seem to be talking about a TV series as well which always made more sense than a movie), in that this could be the version of events/timeline in which Roland has recovered the horn of eld, so everything should play out differently from that point in Rolands history......

It looks interesting. I think the original story was meant to be a stand alone and then King ended up making it a saga of several books and sub-stories (like in Insomnia). I liked what I saw in Roland. His steely reserve and magical handling of bullets in reloading. That's the main thing for me, is that they get the Gunslinger right. As for the storyline, it's hard to say. It's a pretty complicated story. Maybe they for whatever reason aren't going to do a movie for each book in the series, like was done with the Harry Potter series. For one thing Jake Chambers doesn't age several years older in the story like Harry was supposed to.

BTW, any DT fan who doesn't get my signature, shame on you :P

Then again, maybe you decided to stop reading book seven when you were advised to do so
