Does anyone have a favorite cartoon or a tv show that you just loved as a kid? When I was little, I used to watch Rugrats, Arthur, Tom and Jerry, Magic School Bus, and other cartoons. My favorite of them all has been the Magic School Bus. I am probably one of the biggest Magic School Bus fans you will ever meet. I used to be obsessed with that show when I was a little kid and at 23 I'm still obsessed with it. I have a whole collection of Magic School Bus toys, books, cd roms, dvds, vhs tapes, and many more Magic School Bus items. I used to see Magic School Bus live shows when they came to my town, I've seen both Magic School Bus traveling exhibits, and I have met the actress Lily Tomlin who did the voice of Ms. Frizzle 9 times. There is just something about the Magic School Bus that gave me a happy and pleasant feeling as a little kid and that is why I have grown to love it all these years. I believe that this obsession may be a part of my autism. Those of us on the autistic spectrum usually develop an obsession over something that others may not find as great as we do. I think that the Magic School Bus is one of the best series for children because it is entertaining and educational. I am excited that Netflix is rebooting it.

Apple has a cartoon app now, you should look at it, it cost money.

I think it was Sesame Street, I even had a Big Bird clock. My other fave shows were Happy Days & Laverne & Shirley. I remember being on my mom's bed watching tv, I think I was 8.

Candle Cove. Just kidding (lets see how many people get the joke).
But seriously, I absolutely loved stuff like The Flintstones, and the older Loony Tunes, cartoons that were meant to be appreciated by adults as well as kids, and so never talked down to the viewer. I also loved the old Star Trek cartoon, which is almost never mentioned along with other Star Trek series, but had very importantly introduced mainstays like the holodeck (which was originally used for training on the cartoon show, and never had characters that came to life to threaten the crew with murder). They had even gotten the old cast back to do voice overs.

I was always one for the local kid shows. Living in South Central PA, we could also pull stations from Philadelphia and Baltimore.

Every Saturday, it was Slapstick Theater, aka Percy Platypus and Friends on WGAL-TV, with Maryjane Landis as host and Jim Freed operating the puppets (Percy Platypus, Cousin Kiwi, and Mr. Rat). The show ran from 1952 to 1972. The hostess, Maryjane Landis was a TV broadcast pioneer, holding several positions at the station until she retired in 1999. Sadly, she died shortly before Christmas 2015.

As for Philadelphia, WFIL-TV (now WPVI-TV) had the best kids shows, namely Sally Starr and Chief Halftown (and he actually was a Seneca chief), as well as the Rev. W. Carter Mebrier, AKA Capt. Noah. I don't recall any kid shows on KYW-TV, except Mike Douglas's talk show. WCAU-TV had Cartoon Corners with Gene London. WPHL-TV had Wee Willie Webber.

Baltimore also had plenty of good kid shows. The best ones were on WMAR-TV, and starred Stu Kerr, initially as Bozo the Clown, then as Perfessor Kool, with his fun Skool. WBAL had Lary Lewman as Pete the Pirate and Rhea Feiken (Now of Maryland Public Television) who hosted Miss Rhea and Sunshine, and did the weather with the dragon puppet, J.P. (Who's signature sign off was Good Night Rolf (referring to WBAL-TV's longtime news anchor, Rolf Hertzgaard.). WJZ-TV had Royal Parker, who
Was P.W. Doodle (which he also played at WBAL-TV). There was also George A Lewis, AKA Capt. Chesapeake on WBFF-TV (and his show was quite cheesy in production values.)

Road Runner, Wonderama, The Avengers (British TV Show, not comic book characters), The Monkees, Beatles cartoons, F Troop, Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, My Favorite Martian, Lost In Space, Time Tunnel, and not surprising the original Star Trek (never interested in later versions)

As a small child, I liked Sesame Street. In elementary school, I liked the Electric Company.

I know it is more of a "family show" but I was obsessed with Full House as a little kid. I also really liked Sabrina, The Teenage Witch and a lot of other sitcoms.

I watched a lot of PBS too as a kid because we didn't get cable until I was about 8. That is where I first discovered Doctor Who.

I got the joke, Bill. :o

In response to the topic, my favorite childhood show was Hamtaro. I remember that it played twice a day on Cartoon Network - once at 8:30 AM and again at 5:30 PM. I never missed an episode during the summer, though I did fall behind once school started.

I really wish Hulu or Netflix would get the streaming rights for Hamtaro - I mean an obscure show about hamsters couldn't possibly be that expensive to license, could it?
