We here at Wrong Planet have learned that such performers as Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Crispin Glover, Jeff Goldblum, etc. show Asperger traits through their acting skills. Those traits suggest that they may have Aspergers.

Do we know of any other performers with Aspergers?

I'll start.

How about Eric Bana?
I read in a magazine {I don't remember which one}, that he was often abused by his parents as a child for what he didn't do, which was socializing. Because of he was considered different from other students, he was shunned by them and in high school, he took on comedy to exorcise his fear of speaking.

What I do not get is that if he is a comedian in Australia, then how come he takes on such "tough guy"/ "man with demons" roles here in America? What gives?

Gary Numan, the singer, was formally diagnosed.

Gary Numan?
Is he the same Gary Newman that was lead vocals for a 70s rock band?

If it's the one who sang "Cars", then yes.

He took on the role of Mark Brandon "Chopper" Read in a movie in 2000. That role was critically acclaimed (it was made in Australia), and I believe he was seen in "Chopper" by Ang Lee, who cast him as Bruce Banner in "Hulk". Bana has played in at least one Aussie comedy since this breakout, in "The Nugget"....

and you said johnny depp! when i was younger i used to have the biggest, biggest crush on him almost to an obsession level. though most people i knew just thought he was weird. lol seems funny now to think he has asperger's as well.

actually my biggest famous person obsession ever: JOHN LENNON. In HS I couldn't stop obsessing about him, talking about, finding out anything and everything i could and collected stuff, etc. I talked about him so much to the point of annoying everyone. And I use to dress in black for mourning the month of his death.

Since those performers are primarily actors, I have to wonder if the “traits” they exhibit are not just part of their acts.

Never heard of him. :)

I've read that Steven Spielberg is, and to look at my avatar, I believe it spills over into his storytelling.
