What are your thoughts on the movie Akira? For me, it was a very good movie, it had good art, a very excellent plot, and a really good atmosphere plus setting.

the ending was brilliantly made, of course, but i had a lot of trouble following the rest of the film and generally had no idea what the f**k was going on.

Something about makes me think of the American movie ALTERED STATES as AKIRA seemed to have been about recovering information buried within life at the genetic level. In the case of Akira, this information went all the way to the Big Bang unleashing extreme psychic ability and destroyed Tokyo.

Takeda's motorcycle will also be featured along with many references in the new movie Ready Player One.

His motorcycle was actually inspired from the light cycles in the original Tron, if you haven't noticed already...

I think it does its best telling the story that was contained in the original manga (which had not concluded yet upon the release of the movie), but I also think the reason why a number of people are confused about the story, is that it tries to condense so much of the manga into 90 minutes. I would in fact recommend anyone who liked the movie to check out the manga, because it follows mostly the same beats of the anime, but expands upon the world and the characters significantly. At any rate, both the anime and the manga are powerhouses in their respective mediums.
