Can't wait! Though I wonder why "Dune" has gotten so many shots while so many other dinosaur sci fi novels haven't gotten to the plate in Hollywood.

(Perhaps the Manson stigma killed "Stranger in a Strange Land", or Paul Verhoeven killed "Starship Troopers"---which I really dug, but many hardcore fans hated)

Looks awesome, but like many, I wonder how many theaters will be reopened by December 18th.

I think the Jurassic Park/World franchise has a lockdown on Dinosaur movies right now.

My first impression is that the movie will almost inevitably disappoint:

Because it's Dune, it will automatically be so-overhyped that it cannot deliver on people's expectations.

Hard-core SciFi fans will likely find it to be a poor imitation of the "real thing" and insist on greater adherance to the original book, while casual movie goers will wonder why the latest Star Wars movie doesn't have any lightsabers in it...

I just want Devastator tanks...

My bad! By 'dinosaur' I meant pre-Kindle canonical Sci-Fi writers like, say, Asimov (yeah, "I Robot"), Harlan Ellison, Robert Silverburg, Anne McCaffery...Philip K Dick, who has broken through in a major way.

Even though I have never read the book (but have seen David Lynch's adaptation now considered a cult classic for various reasons amongst fans of the novel), I will watch this new version with an open mind.

The first three authors may be too cerebral to make it in Hollywood, but I’d think the McCaffrey books would make for great cinema.

I loved Dune, the book. I think I watched one Dune movie and was not all that impressed.

The first movie was a disappointment, but I still enjoyed it.
They really should have made a mini-series about it. There is way too much in the book/s to cover in a movie.

I really should read the Books again.
That says something because I haven't read a book for over 25 years. lol

Like many, I agree that it's still very interesting that Universal (the studio that got David Lynch to direct the 1983 Dune film) is still trying to this day to convince David Lynch to do a director's cut.

David Lynch has turned down all offers and hardly talks about his Dune movie in interviews.
