Giant Robo - The Day the Earth Stood Still
as the title shows, this is a 7-part Ova anime and I started watching this back in march and holy cow, this is just a masterpiece anime. It gets everything right. The Characters, the animation, the MUSIC (Richard Wagner-esque), the STORY. SO GOOD. The feel of it reminds me of Yu Yu Hakusho/Hunter X Hunter, but with giant robots. But then again, this is actually a unique collaboration of all of Yokoyama's works from Sangokushi to Red Mask and so on.
But what makes this show so unique are not only its unique designs, but also how its a philosophical diatribe and the concept of fatherhood and how the main protagonist and antagonist carry on their legacies through their own means. But what makes this the icing on the cake is how the show questions if whether or not happiness can be achieved without sacrifice. Like, dang. Words can't express how good this show is. You gotta watch it:

But what is the show about?
Otakua gushing about how great they think an anime piece is tells me absolutely nothing of the story, the characters, the setting ... y'know ... the important stuff!
