My personal 'prescription' for an ideal, enjoyable, immersive experience (when it comes to genres one enjoys, it might differ for others, for me it's sci-fi mostly, fantasy, and anime generally although those genres mostly too) is... well, THC obviously... but that is kind of basic, interesting for mostly anything (except war etc. personally) - for truly 'trippy' films/animation, though, NMDA antagonists for some reason... not sure if it's because it's involved in 'learning modulation' or some sort of memory accentuation, but I'd be interested to know if anyone has any theories...
Well, I've watched many series under these couple made for each other, including (obviously) Tatami Galaxy, Kaiba by the same director, Paranoia Agent despite horror qualities (for which I'd be more inclined to try just the former with initially, but it's Satoshi Kon...) - Uchouten Kazoku too made for a weird, rollercoaster ride. With regards to video games it's mostly RPGs, I once played Rogue Galaxy on these two and while it doesn't have the most substantial story, when it concerned outer space... I could, truly, feel the stars.
