I'm highly amused watching nerds whine and complain about this on the internet...there are even petitions demanding that DC not cast him! Talk about needing something better to do with your time.

I'm definitely not a 'Twilight' fan, but Robert Pattinson has proven himself a terrific actor in a good number of excellent and diverse films - the brilliantly twisted crime flick 'Good Time' is a must-see for anyone doubting his skills. I think he would make a fine Bruce Wayne.

Besides, remember when fanboys threw a fit when Michael Keaton was cast as Batman because he was then primarily known as a comedic actor? And remember when fanboys threw a fit when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker because he had also been a teenybopper idol? Yeah. :P

Hardly anyone thought Ben Affleck would have made a great Batman for Batman VS Superman, but IMO, I think he was the only good thing about that POS movie.

As for Robert Pattinson, I am a little skeptical, so I might take the time to watch some of his post-Twilight films. I also am not a fan of the Twilight series, but if he is cast as Bruce Wayne, here's hoping he gives a good performance.

Not that I'm a massive Robert Pattinson fan or have even seen that many of his movies, but generally, it's never really fair to write off an actor simply because they were in a bad movie or franchise. Sometimes in Hollywood, a job is just a job. Robert Pattinson didn't cross my radar until after 'Twilight', when he started doing independent films with David Cronenberg and Werner Herzog, two of my favorite directors; then he co-starred in 'The Lost City of Z', which was fantastic, and starred in 'Good Time', which I loved. The fact that he chose to move from A-list blockbuster fluff to more cerebral independent and arthouse cinema at least shows that he respects the art of acting and filmmaking, so he certainly earned my respect there.

Still, even if I hadn't caught him in a few flicks since then, it's been what, seven or eight years since the 'Twilight' franchise ended? It'd be one thing if it were 2009 and he hadn't stretched out as an actor yet, but people are still upset over his association with that series? That's what strikes me as ludicrous about all the nay-sayers.

I concur, so in turn, if you don't mind me asking, what is your opinion of the movie Cosmopolis?

'Cosmopolis' and 'Maps to the Stars' are really interesting entries into Cronenberg's filmography. I definitely wouldn't say they rank among his best, they simply don't resonate with me in the same way that his classic work does (or most stuff up to 'Eastern Promises'), but they're nonetheless expertly made films and parts of them stick with you. 'Cosmopolis' was alright, but I liked 'Maps' slightly better.

I think he'll be a good fit for the Bat suit.

Well, at least it is not another origin story. It will start a few years after Bruce Wayne started being Batman or so I hear.
