I saw the trailer of that new, Americanized, Godzilla movie. How does the prospect of that appeal to you? I remembef that previous GodzillaUSA movie from the late 90s. It was seen as a disaster.

It looks epic and given the success of the reboot directed by Gareth Edwards, my opinion is that King of the Monsters will easily be a box office hit when it opens May 31st.

Personally, I love the new design of Godzilla in the more recent movies. It definitely looks a lot better than that piece of f*****g garbage that was the 1998 version. I even think the newer version of him looks kind of adorable.

I take it you mean one coming out this year? The 2014 movie was a big improvement over the 1998. Then there's the one next with King Kong. They'll be able to do what they couldn't do in the 1962 movie.

Compared to how the japanese treat Godzilla as symbol for nuclear threat, American godzilla is a meaningless lizard.

Shin Gojira was f*****g great. But then, Hideaki Anno is an auteur filmmaker.

So.... Who cares about American remakes? They're stripped of their references and reduced to mere spectacle. Godzilla, Ghost in the Shell, whatever.
It's not like Americans can't make their own films that are more than spectacle. Blade Runner 2049 and US come to mind.

Uh-Oh, Godzilla: King of the Monsters isn't doing very well. At least not critically.

It will still make a ton of money nonetheless, maybe not on the same level as Gareth Edwards's film and as for future Godzilla movies, Michael Dougherty (the director of King of the Monsters) has expressed interest in directing a prequel about how humans met Godzilla in the first place.

I can only be a fan of the budget-challenged studio bound ones made in Japan. I can't buy into an American made version of it.
