The Green Mile was really good.
How about Shawshank Redemption?
I haven't seen that one. I know it's by the same director.
Another good sad movie I love is In The Heart of the Sea. I highly recommend it.

So many sad movies. I might be confusing sad with bittersweet
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World A.I. Children of Men Melancholia Les Miserables Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog Samurai X - Trust and Betrayal Samurai X - Reflections The Hunchback of Notre Dame - 1923 with Lon Chaney and 1939 with Charles Laughton. The Time Traveler's Wife. Big Fish Edward Scissorhands the Little Prince
There are so many that are not coming to mind. then there are movies with sadness in them but overall are not sad. About Time falls into this category.
I just saw a movie that always leaves a lump in my throat. I cannot remember what it was.

I only have a few favourite films. One of these is the 1970's version of "The Railway Children" which reminds me so much of my childhood that tears come to my eyes every time I watch it. No, I wasn't in the exact same circumstance. Though where we used to live was very much like the house they lived in except ours was a cottage dating back about 1000 years or thereabouts... But the settings and the people. They all reminded me about how life was in my childhood years... And the film captures life soo well. It captures rhe feelings and atmosphere. Even the smells come through as if I was there! And their Mum! WOW! She is soo much like my Mum is! WOW WOW WOW! How I would have been soo much better if I was home schooled by my Mum. Bless her! She is great!
And it is not just a sad movie, but a very happy one as well. Mixed feelings of deep emotion. Just like my childhood was. In some ways, very stressful in school etc... But at the same time very very happy. I was secure at home. Home was a smallholding... Land to play in. Various projects my dad had on the go. Animals etc.. Lots of fun. And when we moved up here from the village down below the same... A smallholding... And we are near the sea... Lots to do and see.. Wales is lovely!

The Love Bug? One of the Hurbie films... I cried my eyes out when I watched it in a cinema with my parents and brother. I was soo embarissed! But the scene where the poor beat up volkswagen was helping at the wedding. Why couldn't anyone repair it? Make it better?

As a kid, I used to think of the Home Alone movies as funny but as an adult, I think they are tear jerkers. I watched the first one a couple of years ago, the day after Thanksgiving and cried me a swimming pool of tears.
