I seriously hope the series is based on the original concept of the serial killer using Voodoo to transfer his soul into the doll, rather than the latest cinematic bomb where a disgruntled toy company employee reprograms the doll to evil.

To be fair, the guy did not program it to be evil, he removed the safeties, and Chucky was exposed to bad influences and did not understand that they were wrong, then betrayed and then repaired and given/restored access to the internet, which gave influence of who know what. Not saying that I am advocating for the remake series over the original, if given a choice I would like to see more voodoo Chucky, maybe some of the cult of Chucky.

Reprogrammed for evil or just took off the safeties, the guy was still a disgruntled employee. I still much prefer the original concept.
