Anyone else collect high resolution digital pictures from their visual media interests (movie's, television, etc)? I feel I've gone to the semi extreme in the last year. I combed the internet for every last high res photographic image from the The Lord of the Rings trilogy films. I made the distinction between image stills from the final film that include CGI effects and actual photographs of the sets (I also collected the former). Anyone else collect these kinds of pictures? Or just imagery in general from your interests?

Example photograph:

! !! YES! It’s funny you mention Lord of the Rings because when I saw the trailer for the Two Towers back in like 2002, there was a shot that I really wanted to capture. The camera is panning low under Elijah Wood’s face while he is in some bluish cave or grotto and the light and angle made it look like a Renaissance painting. I scoured the internet for a high-res still, and then for ANY still, but I couldn’t find one. So I just took a screenshot of the highest resolution trailer I could find.

I have lots of them, most are on a hard drive.

That's probably a neat collection.

It’s SO deep in the vault, it might actually be quicker if I looked up and screenshot the trailer again haha. Stay tuned

Before 1840 images of people were the sole domain of painters and other artist. Photograph was invented and then all of a sudden many artisans found their services were no longer needed. Some took jobs adding color to the photographs or hiding some of the blemishes.

Sometimes photographs were too realistic. They showed all the exterior imperfections. Most photographers of the day worked under the principle that if the customer was disappointed with the photograph, they could get their money back. I remember one article by a photographer in a town in northern Indiana writing something like: "avoid plying your wares in this town because all the people there are ugly and when they see how they actually look in a photograph; they will demand their money back."

You can't share photos using google drive (need permission to view photo). Need to use a public hosting service like Imgur or find a public version of the image.

So much anticipation  :)
