I recently viewed the 1997 movie 'Boogie Nights' with director's commentary. The director also had interest in a film historian's commentary for the 1955 movie 'Bad Day at Black Rock.

Viewing movies with director's audio commentaries may remind-us of movies whose storylines apply meta-narratives. For example, the 1992 fiction movie 'The Player' can be viewed as meta-narrative story-line - that is the motion picture industry was the storyline in itself.

I'm planning on seeing 'The Player' with director's commentary. This might be both an interesting, and entertaining experience.

The three-hour documentary 'Los Angeles Plays Itself' is both informative, and entertaining.

Does anybody feel that the time is ripe for movies drawing parallels to meta-narrative films - drawing parallels to 'The Player' - which attracted ample box-office interest at the time?

In meta-narrative plots, the postmodern genre "comes to mind!"

After all, our current times are living-proof that there is so much to be both 'Post' and 'Modern' about!
