Before the news of the new series, I watched few episodes of the original one to remember, I watched the reruns as a kid, in the 90s.
I liked the series, better than the original, for me at least, but it feels like a whole different series, I don't get the same vibe to be honest. Three kids + 1 feels more like Full House.
One thing that bothered me, as much as I liked the series, SPOILER maybe? --> making Cherry a lesbian was way too forced, and it contradicts the original series, she had a crush on her school male teacher, she had a crush on Andy Gibb, there was a planotic thing between her and Allen and she had a boyfriend on its final season. It would have worked perfectly well if nothing like that happened in the original series but they ruined it just to make it "woke" (they do more damage than good for their own purposes for forcing these things) Having Margaux as a lesbian instead would have worked better.
