This makes no sense:

I am currently at home watching the 4th Indiana Jones film. I just had a thought about the 5th movie. Harrison was in his 30’s during Raider, which takes place during the Nazi movement. In Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, he was in his 60’s and the timeline was in the 50’s.

Well this one is going to take place in the 1944 and he would have been in his 40’s. Yet, they have him playing a man in his 70’s.

I just got back from watching it an hour ago. Honestly, it's a wonderful movie. I went into it expecting that it would be worse than Crystal Skull by a significant margin, but it's actually a really good movie in the same general level as the original trilogy.

I'm on this site, so it's not surprising that my facial recognition isn't good, but they did a far better job of age regressing him than they did with Princess Leia and Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars. Even I could tell that those ones were way off, but Indy looked pretty good. I could tell that it wasn't quite right, but it will age a lot better.

It is an odd numbered Indiana Jones, so the Nazis were obligatory. It's also a redo on Temple of Doom in some ways. You've got the 3 main characters adventuring through, including a kid. There's the obligatory people having a bunch of weird bugs dumped on them. But, Phoebe Waller-Bridges is actually pretty good in the role. Normally, I absolutely hate her, but she's actually pretty decent in the role and the dynamic between her and Indy is actually pretty decent.

As far as the timeline goes, it's a bit like The Last Crusade, where there's a bit at the beginning that's decades earlier, before the main film that's in the late '60s to be more age appropriate for Harrison Ford's age. I definitely recommend people watch it before listening too much to the critics that hated it as it is far, far better than Crystal Skulls. (The ending actually follows logically from the rest of the movie, and it finally explains why Indy doesn't believe in magic in Raiders even though Temple of Doom predated it chronologically)

I hope they go back to their original vision of having the lead rotate like was the case with James Bond. But, given broader social changes over the last 40 years, I'm not really sure that it would be possible to continue much longer, regardless of what the reception is. Even 40 years ago, he admits to breaking the ancient antiquities act in one of the first scenes of the first movie. (I can't believe it took me so long to notice that detail as it's not very subtle)

I'd personally say that it's best to reserve your judgment until you've seen the movie. It's not perfect, but it is a fitting final movie if they want to stop completely after this one. I didn't personally have any trouble sitting through it, which is not something that I can often say. There was plenty of action and the slow parts seemed to be just the right length where I didn't get bored.
