I'm a fan of Teen Titans. That was an understatement. Let's restart.

I'm obsessed with Teen Titans. Though I haven't read the original comic book, I've looked it up a bit on Wikipedia. Just a little. Mostly info on Raven.

So, is anyone a fan of Teen Titans? And if so, would you like to have a literate Teen Titans conversation? (I would like to talk about Raven with someone.)

...I like 'em . I buy the present-day version , altho' , in fact , I might be dropping it.........I do like the Titans , including the older , 60s-70s , ones .
I had the Showcase reprinting the first 20 or so 60s issues !
I have meant to try and talk about super-hero comics here .
There's a Titans East 1-shot coming out soon...I think I'll get that .
How much TTS have you read ?

I haven't had cartoon network for over a year now. I liked the show, but I didn't like how they had the characters turn into there tiny little figures with huge heads.
My favorite character is Raven, but she often pisses me off because, she is clearly incredibly powerful, but she fails to use her potential in most cases. For example: she once used her powers to restrain Robin. She just picked him up off the ground and held him in the air with her power. If she can just hold people like that, why is she picking up objects and throwing them? And there was that time Raven's fear dominated her but she wouldn't face it, and her powers pretty much consumed the tower and defeated the whole team. You never see her do that kinda stuff against an enemy.
Granted things may have changed in the year since I've watched the show.

TheMidnightJudge, have you ever seen this scene?

It's from Season Four's The Prophecy.

Oh man that was sexy!

I didn't see anything past season 2.

Only thing is, Slade wasn't allowed to fight back.

What's with all the runes?

Yes I quite like Teen Titans (Not sure why -- possibly because it's so random.)

My favourite characters are Raven and Beastboy.

It's strange how something based on Amekomi (word for American comics) can be so obviously Japanese. If it wasn't based on Amekomi it would probably count as Anime in our culture.

This question is for those in the U.S.

Has anyone noticed that when Teen Titans is aired on the Cartoon Network, sometimes they play the theme song in English, and sometimes it's in Japanese?

I'm not in the US, but...

It's sung by Japanese people (obviously) so that makes sense. They used to do the same with "Monkey Magic" in Australia.

The 'runes' are... hmm. Okay, long, drawn out spoiler time that basically describes two episodes. (Highlight it, please!)

Okay. Here's the story.

On Raven's birthday, Slade somehow came back to life. Slade attacked the Titans with new fire powers until Raven somehow stopped time. She freed Robin from the confines of time as well, and Slade followed them to where Raven had teleported them. Slade had also acquired another power - If he touched Raven, a piece of her clothing would disappear (Everything that needed to stay on stayed on, it's TV-Y7 anyways), and where the fabric once was, a marking would appear. After the message was delivered, Raven unfroze time and the Titans went home.

Much later, the Titans were attempting to find out what had happened. Their studies were interrupted by Slade's appearance. He burnt down three blocks of the city, except for one thing: an old library. The Titans entered, leading them to a secret passage. Beneath the library were skeletal beings whose spirits rose from the dead, causin them to recite the Prophecy:

The Gem was born of evil's fire,
The Gem shall be His portal.
He comes to claim, He comes to sire
The end of all things mortal.

Causing symbols to glow all over Raven's body. Raven attempted to escape to her home dimension, Azarath while the others continued down the passage. There was only one in Azarath, and this person was Raven's mother, Arella. Arella informed Raven that nothing could be done to stop this from happening. Soon after telling Raven that it was too late for Azarath, the illusion vanished, bringing forth fire and lava. Azarath was destroyed. Raven came back just in time to save the Titans, and unleashed her wrath on Slade. The Titans went back to their home, in which Raven told them that she was destined to create a portal so that Trigon could enter their world. The runes were a warning that Trigon was coming. And she was destined to do so because Trigon was her father.

Trigon is a demon that is about two or more Titans Towers tall, by the way.

Yeah. There's my uber wase of your time. Hope it helps anyways.

And to add to that, it always seems to use the Japanese version of the theme song for some of the more crazier episodes (Mad Mod, Employee of The Month, Fractured, ect.)

Anywho I really enjoyed the show, and it seemed to get better with each season, though I thought the final season was kind of weak. Regardless the characters were fun and a lot of the episodes were well written.

Actually, its just Puffy AmiYumi. Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi is the name of the show that came out shortly after Teen Titans.

But yeah, I've listened to a few of their songs. Good stuff.

I only watched that show because one of the characters voiced someone in Titan A.E. It kinda sucked when they cancled it and we never found out who Slade (who I would watch the show for) was.
