What did you guys think, at least anyone who's seen RE1 and Apocalypse?
I know Yahoo rated it B+, I watched it Friday and while I enjoyed it I'd have a very difficult time making a clear call on it just because - the storyboards seemed to connect almost too abstractly and you couldn't stay in a comfortable rut long enough to really gage what was to be expected, what wasn't, and what was hugely creatively different.
Then again I kinda doubt that's what the movie was really shooting for, its not some Stanley Kubric artcore film, its a zombie movie for godsakes. As far as what I thought of the overall story; can't say it was too bad but then again I really imagine that if they took the movie more seriously they could have done a lot better (almost like they felt they'd really proven themselves with RE: Apocalypse and wouldn't have to try so hard this time around).
Thoughts?
I saw all 3 of them, I'm HUGE resident evil fan! Saw it the day it came out! We played all the games and everything, I kinda like grew up with resident evil haha. I love zombie movies, including dawn of the dead! I thought it was reall good, I was so excited during the whole movie, the only thing I really hated was that there wasn't enough fighting scenes in this one rather then the other two. The end guy didn't last long either, which disappointed me, and my favorite guy Carlos didn't make it either, which made me sad, Other then that I loved it! I can't wait for the 4th one to come out!

To tell the truth with her gift, they should have used that a bit more ingeniously. The fact that it drained her was good, it would have been a lame movie if she was too god-like, but the way she used it on the the doc, she should have known that would have pushed no long lasting effect. Focusing on the inside of his head and just frying his cerebellum would have been too easy though.

I totally agree, I think the craziest part is though when she stopped all the bats from killing the people, now that was sick! When I first sat down and was watching like the first 10 minutes I thought I paid to see the first one again, I was so mad, I thought it was good how they started it. Did you play the games?

Yeah, but for some odd reason I have this magic way of running into triggers. I'll get to a point, realize I have to redo something that I missed, and then going back I'll get stuck somewhere else because I didn't grab something in the right order.
RE4 I actually finished maybe 3 times over just because I loved it as a game, also didn't have those lame stuck views where if your face to face with an enemy on a side to side basis you don't have to worry that your wasting bullets shooting 4 feet to the right of em. RE:5 looks like its gonna be pretty crazy too, even more improvements to the play engine plus I kinda like the idea of taking it to Africa - we've capitalized on US horror, Japanese Horror, Korean, I think Africa's loaded with ideas that just haven't been tapped yet.

True, we beat all the games except the ones for ps3 coming, the new on, I think its R5, holy sh*t I can't wait. The best Resident evil game though has to be the first when their in the house, and the green frog looking dudes were in it! Do you remember? It bothers me that they weren't in the movies, they were awsome in the game, that first game I think was the only game ever to scare the hell out of me haha. Did you ever use cheat codes or anything? After we beat it one time without the cheat codes, I would go back again and play with them on to make it even more interesting.

Hmm, I actually think I got the remake of the original for Game Cube but it was just that (the one where you have the Shark, the Japanese hornets, the plant, etc.?). I think when that generation of Resident Evil did originally start coming out, PS1 and all that, I was in a phase where I was purely just working on music - had stopped playing video games to a large extent (was still on a hiatus that started in 8th grade) and aside form Golden Eye and Perfect Dark with my friends I wasn't really doing much. I think the time when I actually started buying RE's was when Code Veronica came out, that was the first one that I played through. As for chasing down the cheats - I liked the games but I can't say I was that about it.
For me I think my allegiance is kinda split as well on these games, I tend to like the Silent Hills a bit more just because they are as abstract and keep me guessing since you can't rule anything out (can barely put them down once I start em either). On the other side the RE's have been kinda hit and miss with me, they're awesome games don't get me wrong but for some reason when I hit a snag (almost like playing Final Fantasy) its almost too easy to just get up and walk away from. What I really did like about RE4 was the change of scheme, getting away from the T Virus and going more toward something that twisted reality to a greater extent.

Oh yea, wait you play final fantasy too? The last one I played for ps2, I literally beat in like 2 days, it was pathetic. Graphics were better though! First final fantasy I played was I think 7, I don't remember but it took like months, i just loved the chocobos haha. Resident evil code veronica was good though, if u ever get the chance to play the one with in the house with the green frog creatures defintely play, that one was the best!

I thought that the first one was s**t. Passed on the second. The third I may rent just to laugh at how bad it is--the trailer looked hilarious. The infected crows were so friggin' silly looking. BAD CGI ALERT!
If they make a Resident Evil 4, and have it actually be inspired by the Resident Evil 4 game ('cept with Alice instead of Leon), it'd be interesting if it was actually true to the game series for once, especially since the game of Resident Evil 4 was so similar to the film "Dagon." (Dude, there's even a guy who looks a lot like the merchant in it!)

The first one was made after resident evil, everything was from the game. Did you play the first game? It was in the house, the only difference was that they added a few things, and didn't have the green frog weird looking dudes. I loved the first one, second, and third, I absolutely can't wait for the 4th!

I thought this one was by far the best because of the direction, and definitely the visuals and improved character development and acting, but the plot was a little less focused than RE or RE:A, but still better in every department.
I got a kick out of that little subplot about the whole Carlos/Claire/LJ smoking situation. Was pretty funny.
