Does anyone else think movies, in which the character is in one embarassing situation after another, are not funny? Or is it just me? I cringe when the main character is in a very embarassing situation.

Meet the Parents is one of my all-time favorite movies. I saw it before I ever heard of Asperger's. I love it because I identify with the main character - constantly misunderstood and feeling awkward, while people look at me like I'm crazy.

I agree - I'm not sure if there's a Rob Schneider movie I can stand to watch. :x

Yes! I absolutely can't stand movies like that. I liked "Meet the Parents" but the sequel, "Meet the Fockers" was horrible. When the father proudly displayed all his son's failures for everyone to see, it was embarrassing.

Something About Mary was a sick movie all around. Making fun of the handicapped is disgusting and should not be joke fodder.

Depending on the severity of the embarrassment the character is suffering, I sometimes have to get up and leave the room. I find myself physically unable to stomach watching it.

Most recently was in "Snow Cake" when Alan Rickman's character mistakes the neighbour lady for a prostitute because he takes Linda's statement at face value. When he asks what he owes I couldn't even be in the same room!

Glad it's not just me. ;) Given the friend I primarily watch films with is NT, so that may be the reason it doesn't seem to bother her. In the "Snow Cake" scene she acknowledged loudly how embarrassing it must be for him when he realizes what he's done but.... she didn't budge. For that film I could say she just didn't want to miss any glimpse of Alan Rickman ... but honestly I know it's any film we watch. She sits through embarrassing scenes and I wander away. Even if I haven't seen the film before I can somehow sense one is coming and escape.

I have the vague thought that I saw part of Zoolander ... but not the rest.

I like movies about embarasing situations. No one is better at playing clumsy people with bad luck than Ben Stiller.

I gotta agree. I hate movies like that. Always find them painful to watch.

I don't like them either. It makes me feel embarassed for even sitting through it. There was some film a while back involving Dana Carvey and something about turning into a turtle. I found that movie to be really bad and an embarassment to watch.

What movie was that, anyone know?

Yeah I hated There's Something About Mary myself. I actually walked out of the theater. I refuse to see any movei with Ben Stiller in it now.

Of the other movies mentioned so far I've only seen Superbad, as I avoid this kidn of move. Superbad had some very funny moments, but I wouldn't want to see it again.

What about The Wedding Crashres? Would you consider that this type of movie? I'm not sure - it has some embarrassing situations but the humor doesn't rely soley on it. I thought that was a great movie, for what it was.

Was it "Master of Disguise"? I never saw it but I remember from the trailer: "Am I not turtly enough to be in the turtle club?" I actually laughed at some parts of the trailer but heard that the film was TERRIBLE from EVERYONE so I never bothered to see it. XD

I agree, same thing goes for embarassing situations on TV shows.

Oh yes, very painful to watch.
I don't like those movies. I'm uncomfortable just watching them.
