I just went and saw it last night. Real good movie, though yeah - a lot of heroin. I tend to wonder though still, how much of what was actually the true story and how much of it was Hollywood jazzing it up.

I want to see that movie, but because it is an R-rated movie, I will have to wait for the DVD.

Well, something I found out when I was in the hospital recently, one of the nurses was saying he'd actually seen a documentary - either on History or Discovery, pretty much outlining the basis of the story. Apparently the guy's very real, just as the detective who caught up with him and the corrupt cops he helped flush out of the NYPD. They even had both Frank Lucas (or whatever his real name is) and the detective interviewed on the show. I should really try and see if I can get my hands on that, it would be fascinating.

American Gangster was a really good movie. I am a really big Crowe fan. So I pretty much had to this this film.

Hopefully Ridley Scott will get his dues in the spring for Best Director.

i liked this, but i could really tell that it was cut SEVERELY by the studio, poor ridley having all his films butchered like this.

he'll probably put out this in a 3 hour extended (director's) cut like he's done with a lot of his films.
