I thought it was mighty interesting. I knew the boy was severely autistic because he was non verbal and by the way he acted. I thought House was going to get diagnosed as aspie because I have seen people saying on forums he has it. He said he feels a connection in himself to that little boy and he sees himself in him. At the end the doctor goes the the AS criteria and tells House he doesn't have it and he is just an a**hole. I wasn't sure if the doctor was lying to him by saying he doesn't have it or House would use is as an excuse if he was told he has it. Possible the creaters of House wanted to leave the audience hanging by keeping have them think if he has it or not and have it up for us to decide. Some shows are like that and movies.

I know writers can do a lot, but House shows a bit too much knowledge of the intertwining nature of human relationships for him to be autistic. Use of facial expressions and gestures and eye contact to regulate communication. No evidence of abnormal sensitivities. Acute evidence of perspective taking in forming judgments about other people and what knowledge they may posses (he just ignores it.)

I think the doctor is right... he's just an arse.

You don't need to have sensory issues to be on the spectrum. It's not in the criteria.

The point remains the same.

I would differ about the sensory issues though. I thought that was part of it.

(EDIT: Took out some stuff, put in different stuff)

Attwood says that's a glaring omission in the DSM, and I'd have to agree.

House is not Autistic.

He's a vicodin addicted idiot, who always happens to get his cases right.

He's a vicodin addicted intellectual on par with Sherlock Holmes, who always happens to get his cases right because he knows what he's talking about, even if he isn't very nice most of the time. Plus I respect him.

Yes, I agree, very true Gamester! :D

Deus. I didn't say that.

I said he's a vicodin addicted idiot who always manages to get his cases right.

Deus. I did say that.

I said he's cool with me too.

But seriously, he is pretty smart. You can't just label anybody you don't like as being dumb, because that's just biased... and dumb. :D

Anyway what's with not liking him? My sense of humour is very much like his own, or at least I like to think so. Why is it that all my friends think he's a jerk yet they think I'm hilarious (Exaggeration), it doesn't make any sense! :?

I think the doctor is right... he's just an arse.

if a aspie has an interest in interpersonal interaction then he or she would become an expert.

But you are forgetting this is fiction. He is what ever the writers say he is. Even if he has every symptom and is a textbook example of an aspie, if the writers say he is NT then he is. Atleast if you are looking at it from a continuity perspective.

You're probably right, but you're forgetting that House doesn't like it at all.

And so far they've decided to imply things but nothing beyond that.
