If the Daleks were to go to war with the Cybermen, who do you think would win?

Update: Assuming that the Doctor (or anyone else) didn't get involved.

"You would destroy five million Cybermen with four Daleks?"

"WE WOULD DESTROY FIVE MILLION CYBERMEN WITH ONE DALEK!"

If we're talking classic series, where Daleks did not appear to have force-fields, I would say it depends on the numbers and tactics of each side. Of course, Doomsday showed us what happened later, but assuming the Daleks did not have the Genesis Ark, and the Cybermen mixed up their tactics, the Cybermen could have won by sheer force of numbers.

Even in the classic series, the daleks were made of Dalekanium which was very resistant to explosives - their eyestalks were always a bit soft. In attack of the Cybermen, someone knocks a cyber's head completely off by hitting it with a pole.

While both are survival suits as such... the Cybermen were built to mimic humans while daleks were built to continue the thal/kaled(dal) war.

"Resistant to explosives"? Lemme see....

Day of the Daleks: Plastic explosive used to destroy Daleks on contact.

Destiny of the Daleks: Dalek suicide bombers sent out to destroy a Movellan spacecraft.

Remembrance of the Daleks: An RPG and plastic explosive from the 1960's is sufficient to kill 4 Daleks, as is a canister of Nitro-9.

Not to mention the following weaknesses:

The Daleks, Power of the Daleks: Static electricity is their power source, and so they can't got beyond the confines of their city. It can either be cut off, or turned against them to overload them.

The Chase, The Dalek Masterplan, Evil of the Daleks, Death to the Daleks, Ressurection of the Daleks, Remembrance of the Daleks: Enough blunt force trauma can damage and even destroy a Dalek. A fall from heights, a enemy picking one up (unlikely if the user is not a robot) and dashing it on the ground, a rockslide, and a baseball bat enhanced by the Hnd of Omega (though that never destroyed a Dalek, it did destroy the eyestick and damaged several).

The Dalek Masterplan: Extreme fluctuations of time can kill them, when the Time Destructor blasts the Daleks (and, unfortunately, Sara Kingdom) into oblivion with this.

Evil of the Daleks, as well as Dalek and Evolution of the Daleks: Integrating human genes and/or psychology into a Dalek makes them less likely to kill.

Planet of the Daleks: Extreme cold

Planet of the Daleks, Remembrance of the Daleks: A radio blast in the right frequencies can disble a Dalek by screwing up their guidance systems.

Planet of the Daleks and Ressurection of the Daleks: Biological weapons

Revelation of the Daleks, as well as Parting of the Ways: Bastic bullets can penetrate the armour of a Dalek.

Remembrance of the Daleks: Sending a surge through the system a Dalek is connected to can kill them. So can a supernova.

Remember, that guy was partly a Cyberman himself. I know a policeman also kills a Cyberman by shooting him, but he actually aims for the mouth.

I recall the Cybermen being defeated by the use of acetone to dissolve the life support unit on there chest (something missing from the latest incarnation).

and what happened to cybermatt's - small cybernetic creatures that feed on brain wave energy and were always present with the Cybermen?

That was from The Moonbase. 'Cocktail Polly', after the Doctor's companion Polly, who was inspired (along with Ben, another companion) after removing her nail polish. They used fire extinguishers full of acetone and various solvents. However, that was the only time that was used.

They home in on brain wave energy, and only appeared in three stories on TV. They can either bite you with drugs or a virus, or kill you with a ray blast.

In "Dalek", the Doctor himself thought, when the last Dalek escaped, that it would be sufficient to evacuate the bottom level and shut down the elevator. No way they could climb the stairs, of course.

And then, "ELEVATE! E-LE-VATE!! !"

Daleks have superior weapons, but Cybermen have feet.

That's BS. He just wanted to shut the Dalek in. He's seen them float up stairs before. But Rose hadn't.

Well done Quatermass.... I did think of most of those Dalek Stories but figured I'd save typing ... and you fell right into my little trap....

anyway...

I miss the cybermats...

I wish they'd bring the classic cybermen back - ie the Mondas-Telos beasties instead of the alternate earth ones. Then they could bring cybermats.

Oh and trivia... the Daleks flew twice in the old series.

1. Revelation of the Daleks (but so blurry that nobody noticed)
It's fixed on the DVD.

2. Remembrance of the Daleks

Remembrance is where they indisputably floated up stairs. I think the most impressive Dalek flying started with Doomsday, though the attack on Hooverville in Evolution of the Daleks was good.
