I recently read that someone has been chosen to replace Richard Whiteley, who passed away a few months ago sometime in his early 70's. His replacement's name is Des Lynam. He promises he won't smile as much as Richard did. Boy, is that not a good sign?

They must have made the right decision about replacing Richard. Des looks like a nice guy. I think that comment he made about smiling really fooled me.

Oh, I just read that he was a contestant on "Countdown" when the show was permanently a celebrity series, so he must have respect for Richard.

Tomorrow is the day for those of you who don't know. What a day for him to start! Halloween?

Des is nice. I liked that rap he did on Room101.

Richard Whitely was a bit cheesy and des should be able to cheese it up too.

My fave episode of countdown was the one where Richard was wearing a countdown tie. Only the word count was visible and Richard had accidentally put his microphone over the "O"

What is Room101?

So, it sounds to me like Des did an excellent job filling Richard's shoes. If yesterday's game of "Countdown" was close, I bet he was pretty excited.

Room 101 is a light hearted BBC chat show where celebrity guests get to 'send' things they dislike into Room 101 - named after the room where Winston Smith is tortured in 1984.

No, I assume he was a guest. The host is Nick Hancock as far as I remember.

Paul Merton was the best. Des was a guest. Paul merton asked him to do a RAP at the end of the program.
