I spend more time on the internet than watching TV. There isn't much on TV these days that's worth watching -- even the news on the 'net is better quality, plus I don't have to read any story I'm not interested in or spend a third of the newscast watching sports. I mostly tape a few things on the PBS station and watch them on the weekend. I buy the Monk series on DVD.

I would like to see a la carte cable. I don't see the point in spending my hard-earned money on a bunch of channels I'll never watch. The few channels I would be interested in are only offered on the most-expensive tier. Therefore, I don't have cable.

I generally don't pay much attention to ads unless I'm looking to purchase a particular product. The major exception to this is ads in needlework publications. I'm a knit/crochet/cross-stitch/quilting designer and I get ideas from the ads. Also, since I plan to start a business in this field, looking at these ads is part of my research. I do appreciate creative or entertaining ads and will actually rewind the tape to watch them (oooh, it's the gecko!). :) The ads I really hate are the pop-ups, moving or flashing ads, ads with sound on the 'net, and those stupid car commercials on the radio where they feel they have to YELL for the entire ad to get your attention. :x

1. I'm on the internet almost all of the time that I'm home. I might watch the TV simultaneously, but I'll turn the computer off if I really want to watch something (generally only movies on DVD or new episodes of Doctor Who).

2. I value the internet more, because it gives me more choices, and the advertising is less intrusive.

3. TV is faster, but the internet has more options.

4. I'd like television to be based more on on-demand content. I'm sick of the standard networks' new reality shows / horrible new multi-camera sitcoms, and I'd like to be able to choose what episodes of what show to watch and when, or what movies I want to watch. You know, they should just bring the TV onto the internet, and fuse it together. Really, the only thing I seem to watch on TV anymore is the news broadcast.
