If you're a fan of Johnny Depp, I'm sure you have seen this movie. He plays an eccentric guy who is into old movies and into Buster Keaton. He does his silent acts and Charlie Chaplin's too and he has an unique way of doing things like cleaning, and cooking. He seems very aspie like because of his obsessions and how he has the lines memorized from one of his favorite movies Ruthie played in.
Also remember the part, “You’re out of your tree.”
“It’s not my tree,” Sam says. He took Joon’s comment literal.
And the part when Mike asks Sam what he do with his hubcaps and he says “I don’t know.” He probably didn’t know how to explain it or he didn’t really know where they went. He was spinning them on his finger and threw them up in the air, that’s what he did with them but instead he tells Mike “I don’t know.”
Sure he had great eye contact but some aspies have eye contact with people they are comfortable with. Sam was comfortable with Benny, Joon, and Ruthie. He gave his customer’s eye contact when he was at work when Benny comes to see him to see Joon in the hospital. Some aspies do have eye contact, I know that.
Some people say he has Aspergers and some say he doesn't. I say it's hard to tell if he had it or not because the movie doesn't show what his life was like but we all know Mike treated him bad and he was an outcast and he was kicked out of school and he has troubles with reading and writing.

I'm not really sure. But I love the film.

I love that movie!! ! (especially the end bit where he's swinging outside the window = my fav. scene.) Got the DVD at home.

I think Sam and Joon are equally Aspie BUT Sam's is more severe than Joon.

Possibly. But isn't it a diagnostic criterion that in order to have Aspergers, a person's symptoms cannot be explained by any other disorder. (Such as Schizophrenia.)

I love Benny and Joon! I think both Sam and Joon are aspies. My dad compared me to Joon once. I know Joon was supposed to be bipolar, but she seems more aspie to me, or a mix of the two.

Lol, I have been compared to her only twice. One of my online buddies once told me he sees me as a Joon and my boyfriend told me I had half of her behavior.
