Netflix finally got this movie on DVD:

I love pirate movies, but I had never seen this one before. So we watched it last Friday (talk like a pirate day) and drank a lot of rum.

I have to say, this movie was a lot easier to watch than Pirates of the Carribean (not that the POTC movies were bad, they were just very convoluted and overly complicated in parts). Blackbeard has just one plotline, a few major characters, and is very easy to follow. And it's GREAT to listen to Blackbeard talk! Every time he opens his mouth it's YEHARRR this and ARRRRGH that. IMO Johnny Depp would have been even sexier had he really talked like a pirate.

Have you seen the 2 part 'Blackbeard' docu-drama the BBC did? - its excellent

I have the Hallmark and National Geographic's ones in my queue, but it doesn't look like the BBC one is out of DVD yet (or Netflix doesn't have it).

hell, if your going to 'pirate' anything it might as well be a pirate film right?

The discovery channel also did a good pirate documentary.
