Patrick Stewart playing the Meddling Monk? BS! The Monk is meant to be a slightly more comedic role, with less gravitas. He's meant to be childish, not imperious! Patrick Stewart would make a better Doctor Who, especially in the mold of the first Doctor, William Hartnell.

Here's the trailer for the first story to feature the Monk, The Time Meddler.

I love Dr Who, but I can't wait for the next Torchwood either.

This is probably not true, two years ago there was a story about the same actor but that time he was apaarently playing the Master, only about 2/10 sun articles about doctor who are true.

Oh, and the zygons have been confirmed not be in the next series of the specials.

The news is making the rounds in other places on the internet now, so it's either gone viral or there could be some truth to it.

Interestingly, it gells with what Patrick Stewart was saying when he was doing theatre with Tennant... about how he wanted to be... not a villain but someone who was doing evil because his motives were misguided.

The meddling monk comes across as quite funny - he was one of my favourite characters.

He also comes across as a little scared... (running from Vikings and Daleks) but if Patrick Stewart was to play a time-weary version of him.... Having been through a lot since the Hartnell days and perhaps a little mentally scarred from the time war... it could be great.

Even better if the monk was meddling to try to reverse the effects of the time war...
