I think the Wire is the best programme ever made

does anyone else agree?

The Wire has been an obsession of mine for a long time now. So much so that my friends are sick to death of me talking about it.

Well, if it's not the best, it's damn near the top. I'm not sure why the show didn't do better commercially, and it being perennially passed over for awards was positively criminal. I think it compares especially well against The Sopranos, which I also enjoy, but The Wire just blows it out of the water with it verisimilitude and long arch story telling.
