I was wondering what everyone thought of it

What mental condition will South Park make fun of next?

I kind of hope they make fun of aspies.
I know that sounds weird, but I'd feel honored! :D
I really hope I didn't offend anyone.

That episode was pretty funny.

I have heard speculation that Butters could be an Aspie.

But I don't diagnose fictional characters with anything.

Drove me around the bend. It states clearly in the DSM that under 10% of those with Tourettes exhibit coprolalia. Yet the first thing they go to is that.

Ok, but that's just me. >.>

What's coprolalia?

I hope they make fun of autism too.

Coprolalia is involuntary swearing or involuntary utterance of obscene words or inappropriate and derogatory remarks.

What's coprolalia?
What Spokane said.

Also the fact that if it's been less than a year, they should be looking closer at Transient Tic Disorder, rather than straight at Tourettes.

Though I do understand it's all in fun at the same time.

I knew that "copro-" was the prefix for doo-doo, and I found it very interesting, considering that the next episode was the one where Randy (Stan's dad) took the world's biggest crap.

I don't frequently watch South Park. Just turn it on when nothing else is on and my parents aren't there.

I don't think they make fun of anything, They show how people misunderstand a condition and how certain overweight 3rd graders could find it amusing to get out of trouble by feigning a mental illness.

Trey and Matt are "equal opportunity offenders".

How would Cartman fake being an aspie?
Maybe Kenny could fake being an aspie for some fiendish Cartman plan! :D

they are in my opinion. they don't focus on any one group although cartman is always hanging it on kyle because he is jewish.

i remember someone talking about the episode where they showed an image of mohammed (muslim prophet) they said that all of their muslim friends loved it, they knew it was against the rules of the relgion but they felt validated by it.

as for an aspie ref south park, i am wondering how they would go about it. butters could pretend to be aspie.

I don't think South Park would do an "Aspie" episode. Asperger's isn't political enough for MS & TP to ridicule. Gosh, do you guys want everything to be about Asperger's Syndrome? People claim they hate having it, act all outraged by curebies, how dare you try to cure us, how dare you insensitive jerks, etc., etc. But secretly I think everyone with autism loves having it and want to marry it. :P

The episode was hilarious. I feel it gave a SOMEWHAT accurate portrayal of tourettes without making it the but of every joke on the episode. The one scene where kyle is observing the group of tourettes kids and one of them tells about how he feels and wishes he was dead was very touching and sad. I think the episode actually makes fun of people who make fun of tourettes by showing what an a**hole cartman is (as always).

Well, South Park will do anything to allow characters to swear. :D And of course it makes sense that the reason Cartman would fake Tourette's is so he could get away with saying all those offensive things. They did address the other types of Tourette's later in the episode.

As for an AS episode - if the show stays on for a couple more years, I could definitely see it. AS continues to gain more publicity. There's already a phenomenon of people accusing others of faking AS. And this whole "Ransom Notes" debacle has resulted in the development of a political slant.

Funny. No one's ever been publicly accused of faking Down Syndrome. Or cerebral palsy, for that matter. I don't understand how pretending to be afflicted with our shared condition, Aspies of WrongplanetP, has become trendy. It has its perks, I'll grant you that, but need I remind everyone that AS isn't exactly a super-duper-great thing to have? If it was good enough to share with NTs, we'd have already figured out a way to put it in a serum, in the water supply, in baby formula, Diet Coke, etc.

If the VISOR of Geordi LaForge grants him super-human visual acuity, why then do not all Starfleet officers have them?
