What do you think of it?

If this show called "90210" currently on CW was a show by any other name and had no affiliation whatsoever with the 90210 franchise, then I'd say it's basically a good show. BUT it is affiliated, and because it truly bears little if any resemblance to the style and feel of the original, it's just hard for us and probably many who really know the original to take this one as seriously as it could be. I will say, while I sort of tuned out the second half of the first season, i think i've caught every episode of the new season and i'm trying it out again. And it's not half bad! They even sprinkle in a surreal scene with West Bev guidance counselor Kelly Taylor counseling the principal who looks a lot like a character that was on the original Melrose Place which of course is also in the 90210 universe. For this reason, Rob Estes should not have been cast for this show! And this whole sexting storyline, i'm not all that big on plots that have to do with technology or anything like this that the writers in the early 90's wouldn't have been able to do. i think it just cheapens things. And i still don't understand why this new 90210 couldn't have used an opening credits sequence like the original?? Exact same song, exact same graphics, that kind of continuity at least would have helped with the transition. But instead they just have that half-*ss little intro spot they throw in with a distorted version of the opening theme. And NONE of these characters are as cool or interesting as the original group, it's not even close!! Blah. But i guess that's the key, no cast of characters ever could be as awesome, so maybe it's unfair to compare. Even Navid and the ladies man Dixon have nothing on Scott Scanlon!! hahahaah
