The question is fairly self-explanatory.

Also, will the Master now become the Lord of the Rings?

For those confused, this is about the season 3 finale of the revived series of Doctor Who (episode "The Last of the Time Lords").

In the audio commentaries for that episode -or was it the Confidential? I can't remember, heh- the crew joked about it being the hand of The Rani, but officially it's up in the air for a future writer to pick up and run with.

If Lucy Saxon wasn't arrested, or managed to escape the law, it could quite possibly be her despite the whole... killing him in the first place thing. But then again, perhaps it was planned all along! Logically, I consider her the most likely of the two.

But personally, I'd like to see The Rani back in action (Kate O'Mara or not) and behind the Ring thing; However, that'll be a bit of a mind-bender considering the presence of a new character unrelated to the Time Lady named Rani Chandra in the newest season of spin-off series The Sarah Jane Adventures. Who knows? Maybe the Time War will be "unlocked", or more Gallifreyans made use of the Chameleon Circuit?

EDIT: Haha, whoops. I meant Chameleon Arch, yeah. Darn memory lapses. XD

It seems quite likely. Now that the plot device of the Chameleon Arch (not circuit; that's what's supposed to camouflage a TARDIS, but the Doctor's is broken) has been introduced (I loved Human Nature/The Family of Blood and Utopia) it would seem odd if no other Time Lords or Ladies had thought to use it if they were aware that either the Doctor would destroy Gallifrey or the Daleks would win. Given we do not know how many regenerations the Rani (whom I have only seen in her Kate O'Mara form; has she regenerated in the novels, where I understand she features in at least one adventure?) Romana (I know of at least three incarnations, but in a Time War the chances of needing to regenerate more frequently would increase) Mortimus the Monk/Time Meddler (as far as I know only one incarnation has been seen; by now he surely would have regenerated at least a few times)Magnus the War Chief, The Hermit/Abbot K'an P'o/Ch'o Je or Drax have had (it is unclear if the immortal but petrified Borusa and the Time Lord founding father Rasillon would have been enabled to survive the destruction of Gallifrey, albeit in some altered state; it would depend whether their immortality was contingent - living forever "barring accidents" - or absolute - nothing can kill them) coupled with the memories being suppressed (though probably the Time War would feature in dreams or rather nightmares) conceivably a number of Time Ladies and Lords could be wandering anywhere in human history, with no awareness of their true identity.

I personally would like to see the Rani return, as well as Romana (are the rumours true?). That last sentence was quite alliterative; the above paragraph needs editing
