Actually, I do see lkonantzes point. The thing with Stargate is, we dont HAVE a sprawling interstellar empire. We only have a few outposts. Which gives developments back on Earth and in the vicinity a lot more influence in what happens on remote colonies like Atlantis.

you'll notice in the movie, that the Gould didn't speak english. that the Gouald language was spoken and Danny boy just happened to speak it.
