Did anyone else like Friends?

I've got the DVDs and I'm watching it now, LOL.

They should totally have kept making new episodes! Am I right?!

Seven years of friends was enough.

trust me.

I never watched it, but seven years is the cut off before anything gets really stupid.

the exception:
Star gate
Simpsons
South Park
Family Guy

The only character I liked on "Friends" was Phoebe (Gwynyth Paltrow). She was the only one that seemed consistently nice - at least, most of the time.

Seven years was definitely enough.
Besides, who needs "Friends" now that there's "How I Met Your Mother"?

You mean Lisa Kudrow.

I love How I Met Your Mother!

As for friends, I've enjoyed it in syndication, but I never cared enough to seek it out.

Whichever ... I mean the cute, blonde one.

Obviously I didn't watch the show all that much ...

I really like "Friends" They still have that show on t.v, but I think that thy are repeats. I agree that they never should have stopped airing that show. I just love that show! Dawn

Like most good shows, they left before it got bad, look at MASH or the Simpsons, not that I dislike those shows, but they were on way to long. There are some show never clue in and stay on the air years after their expiration date.

Friends is really cool, the great thing about it is that you can watch the episodes a trillion times and they never get boring!

"Friends" didn't get canceled. It ended. There's a difference. Besides, it lasted longer than many shows on TV. 236 episodes is a rather large amount of episodes for a tv show, considering that several, better shows don't even get to 50.

Also I believe that the stars' extremely huge contracts (at one point they were the highest paid actors in television history - per episode, they were getting several million dollars) were up and perhaps the producers wanted to end the show gracefully and while it was still popular instead of outstaying its welcome like "MASH" or "The Drew Carey Show" did.

Amen, brother! Although I've never seen Stargate, though.

What is the difference?

Cancellation = Show is terminated by the network. Usually ended without a finale (with only two exceptions - "The Wonder Years" and "Arrested Development" both of which used hurried scenes to wrap up the show - the former with an ending narration and the latter with a hastily written final episode). Usually a beloved and short lived show will have fans who will protest its cancellation. The two most high profile being "Firefly" and "Pushing Daisies". Sometimes a canceled show will be picked up by another network, as was the case of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" or "Scrubs" or will be resumed by the network after a certain event ("Family Guy" resumed after the DVDs of the first three seasons became some of the biggest selling DVDs of all time).

Conclusion = Show is ended from a mutual decision between the network, producers and actors. Sometimes a show has a previously set conclusion date ("Lost"). It usually has a large and high profile finale (like "Friends" had) which wraps everything up or leaves characters at a point where their adventures would cease ("Seinfeld", "The Sopranos" at least according to one theory) or things return to normal (many anime). Sometimes a show is made to have a specific amount of episode and then end (the animes "FLCL" and "Excel Saga", The original UK "Life on Mars"). Sometimes the show is canceled, but has a proper conclusion (both "Stargate" shows, "Arrested Development", the original run of "Doctor Who") that leaves the door open for more episodes or a film.

I liked Friends better the first time round, when it was called "Seinfeld."

It was a fun show but, like all long running shows, enough is enough. They all tend to get boring in the final year.
